PARADOXES OF THE HIGHEST SCIENCE by Levi, Eliphas

  • "By the time of his death in 1875, Lvi was recognized as the greatest occultist of the 19th century. Yet, his writings were not published in English until after his death. The Paradoxes of the Highest Science first appeared in 1883 in Calcutta in a Theosophical pamphlet series; in it Lvi makes an appeal for balance between science and religion by addressing seven paradoxical statements. Included in this new edition are extensive and illuminating footnotes that were added to Lvi’s text. Some of these are by an anonymous translator, and some by the "Eminent Occultist" who was most likely to have been Madame Blavatsky herself."
